One of the most powerful elements of being a member of the Fulbright community is the unmistakable connection that is formed instantly between its members. This powerful and unique Fulbright bond allows individuals from various backgrounds to create instantaneous connections over their shared dedication to scholarship and global collaboration. This past winter, the Indiana Chapter hosted its inaugural Winter Banquet that forged many such connections and new friendships.

Over 40 Fulbrighters and friends attended the Indiana Chapter’s first Winter Banquet in February 2019
Over 40 Fulbright Association members, visiting scholars, and friends of Fulbright attended this evening of fun, networking, celebration, and fellowship. There were over 20 countries represented and Fulbrighters from institutions around the state of Indiana including Purdue, IUPUI, Wabash, IU Bloomington, Butler, and Ball State.
The dinner concluded with closing remarks from Mrs. Etta Ward, IUPUI’s Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research Development, who inspired the group to pursue active mentorship. Ward’s speech stressed the importance of offering and seeking mentorship and how essential it is to one’s own personal journey as well as the collective journey of associations like Fulbright.
The Indiana Chapter is exceptionally grateful for grant funds from the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, which made this evening possible. We are looking forward to growing this into a great chapter tradition.
